Subject: pvecm create is still calling ssh_merge_known_hosts(), bug ?
Date: Fri, 3 Jul 2026 09:18:18 +0000 [thread overview]

Hi,
sorry to be offline theses last months, I'm currently working on CIS
compliance on our production cluster, and it take me a lot of time.
I have noticed that on the node where the cluster is created,
we still have a symlink /etc/ssh/ssh_known_hosts.
ssh_merge_known_hosts() is still called in /PVE/API2/ClusterConfig.pm
at cluster creation, but not on other nodes that join an existing
cluster.
I think it's mostly cosmectic, since
https://lore.proxmox.com/pve-devel/2097752910.1256.1704790650291@webmail.proxmox.com/t/
now reading the ssh_known_hosts directly in
/etc/pve/<node>/ssh_known_hosts
