Hi JR

>> It's not in /etc/aliases or any /etc/postfix/* files

proxmox-mail-forward uses the .forward mechanism to =E2=80=9Ccatch=E2=80=9D=
 emails sent to root (or any other user) - see aliases(5).

root@pve:~# cat ~/.forward
|/usr/bin/proxmox-mail-forward
root@pve:~# grep ^user:root /etc/pve/user.cfg=20
user:root@pam:1:0:::admin@example.com:::

The user:root@pam entry in user.cfg is where the email address went that =
you entered during installation.

Lukas Wagner briefly described the mechanism in this =
<https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/is-the-use-of-proxmox-mail-forward-to-h=
andle-mail-on-pve.133850/post-590618> forum post.
=
https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/is-the-use-of-proxmox-mail-forward-to-ha=
ndle-mail-on-pve.133850/post-590618

What he described is the legacy mode =
<https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-notifications.html#:~:text=3Dleg=
acy%20mode> for sending notification emails.
